Looking Back…

As we close out 2017, it’s time to look back at our year, and all of the adventures that we found.

In preparation of this post, I read my 2016 round-up (Happy New Year!)  The overwhelming theme was that I felt as if I needed to step up my game.  I was feeling a little down, and was looking for something to be proud of.

This was my main goal for 2017- and I may have cheated a bit.  When i made that plan, I was days away from my very first 10k.  I knew I’d be proud of myself for completing it.  So, yes, I accomplished my goal within the first week of 2017.  But I didn’t stop there.  I went above and beyond, and completed my first half marathon!

I was also a guest on a podcast for the very first time-  Did you miss it?  Check out The Twinning Podcast–  they are rocking the twin parent thing! Plus- they like wine!

Another way I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone is joining the board of my Multiples of America chapter.   I’ve gained so much from the group that it feels amazing to be able to give back and provide some support for the newer twin moms on the block.

My state of mind is in a much better place, having such accomplishments under my belt.

We came a long way as a family, also!

The duo went from barely talking to full sentences, paragraphs, and monologues!  It’s such a delight to hear that thoughts that go on in their heads, and we end up with some wonderfully hilarious gems to share with you!

TT Dad and I were able to spent a couple of nights in NYC- alone!  We had left the duo overnight, and for the PMC, but never for purely recreational purposes.   It was amazing.

On that same note-  TT Dad and the duo survived without me for a couple of (very long) weekends!  Who knew!  The world does continue to turn even if I’m not there to kiss boo-boos.  I feel like it was a wonderful experience for all three.

It’s not every day you get to begin and end the year with a trip to Walt Disney World…  We visited in January as a family, and I returned in November with a friend (Marisa of Pascal Outfitters!  Check out her shop!).

Florida was only the beginning of our adventures on a plane… We also went cross country for the first time- and the duo’s first red-eye!  California was so much fun, but a lot of work-  Still totally worth it.

California was also the initial leg of our very first (and likely only) double decker vacation.  Coast to Coast-  CA to the Hamptons back to back.

Speaking of Beaches-  we spent a lot of time in NC this past year, and I’ve realized it will never be enough.

Of course, one of the biggest events over the course of the year-  The duo started Nursery School.  Sure, it’s only two mornings a week, but it was a pretty huge change in our lives.   Luckily, it went very well, and we are thrilled with our experience.

Believe it or not, we just fit one more big ‘first’ into 2017.  We just returned home from our 2017 ski trip-  and the duo’s first attempt at skiing!  They did a fantastic job!

With all of that behind us, we’re excited to see what 2018 has in store for us!
