Maryland Science Center at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor

The Maryland Science Center at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is located, if you can believe it, at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

Admission pricing to the Science Center can be found here.  Prices are based on age ranges as follows: Children (3-12), Adults (13+) and Seniors (62+).  Pricing varies based on the ticket package you purchase, from their base price, which includes the Exhibit Halls, Planetarium, and Demo Stage, to the Combination price, which includes the IMAX Theater. Wristbands are used as entry tickets, and reentry is allowed, as often as you would like on the day of admission.

This museum is *not* a member of the Association of Children’s Museum’s Reciprocal Network, but it is a member of the Association of Science Technology Centers Passport Program. More information on that can be found on our resources page.

We visited this museum on a rainy Sunday morning, so we were not at all surprised to find it was quite busy.  I would have loved to spend more time exploring all of the exhibits, but many of them were geared for older children.  The real surprise here was that our little toddlers were intrigued by each exhibit.  They were interesting to all ages-  adults, teens, older children, and younger kids, as well.

Unfortunately, were were on a bit of a timeline, so we made our way to the Kids Room pretty quickly.  There was ample stroller parking and the room had it’s own coat room.  This is a major plus, because we could leave our diaper backpack in the coat room, and not have to decide whether to carry it with us the whole time, or leave it back in the lobby, only to have to run all the way back down in the case of a necessary diaper change.

The Kids Room was very large, and spacious.  There were multiple exhibits within the room, allowing for free play, as well as guided experiences.  The staff in the room was helpful, while also allowing for parents to interact with their children when possible.

There were so many different areas to check out in the Kids Room, so we never felt too crowded, or like we had to wait to let the kids play with something.  It was getting more crowded as we were coming close to the end of our visit, so I’m glad we headed there first.

I wish we could offer a more thorough review of the Maryland Science Center, but we were having too much fun in the Kids Room to see much more of the other exhibits!

Our triumphant return to Baltimore will include a (much more lengthy) visit to this Science Center!
