Kids In Motion

We headed to Kids in Motion on a very rainy morning.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that several other families seemed to have the same idea!  Typically, this can lead to a not quite stellar experience…  Too many kids in an enclosed space doesn’t usually end well.

We were very pleasantly surprised by Kids in Motion, in New Berlin, WI.

Once you enter the front doors, you find yourself at the front desk, where you can pay your entrance fee.  Pricing depends on the day of the week, with Monday-Thursday being $7.00 per child, Friday- Sunday being $10.50. Laser Tag is available for an additional fee.

Just past the desk is a large open lobby, with lots of storage for the shoes your kids aren’t allowed to wear inside-  and yours as well, in winter, or if the weather is lousy.  Our stroller hung out here, as well, while we were off playing.

There are also a number of rooms available for birthday parties, or school groups.

To the left of the front desk area is the entrance to the play area.  The play rooms are individually themed, and they surround the large open play area in the middle.  In addition to the large climbing structure in the middle of the room (meant for the non-toddler crew) there are also smaller, softer, structures for the younger set. This area was quite popular during our visit, but the older kids played carefully around the younger kids.

I let the duo lead the way, and luckily, they seemed to agree on which area to play in next, and in the rare disagreement, one of them seemed to be stronger in their convictions, and the other would consent without issue.  We spent time in three or four of the rooms, including the train room (TRAINS!), the Diner, the Grocery Room, and the Construction Room.  Other rooms offered Arts and Crafts activities, Science experiments, and a Stage for creative play.

Keeping up with the big kids!

Keeping up with the big kids!

We definitely got our money’s worth from our morning at Kids In Motion.  The kids had a blast, and worked off some of their excess energy!

The play areas were clean, and well monitored.  There were couches in the large center area for parents to sit and chat, which was a lovely feature.  I was convinced this would lead to issues with kids in the rooms, but there were enough adults mingling that the kids seemed to be well behaved.

This visit has left me with hope that my kids are getting to the point where I can tackle a place like this- alone!
