Father’s Day Fun

We had one last surprise for TT Dad!

Finally… after visiting both Camden Yards, and Wrigley Field, it was time to return to our home stadium, and take the duo to their very first Boston Red Sox game-  and their first trip to Fenway!

You know by now that we make every attempt to set ourselves up for success. We choose seats that allow for maximum wiggle allowance, and set our expectations pretty low.  Fenway is a stadium that we are very familiar with, so that helped, as well.

We were able to get aisle seats in the first row of the upper section.  These seats were perfect!  The kids could stand in front of us without any worries that they would annoy the people in front of us, and they could even sit on the small step which led to our row.

It was a very warm day, so we were quick to reapply, and reapply, and reapply the sunscreen.  With a concession stand just behind our section, it was a quick trip for TT Dad to get a few supplies.  A couple of waters, hot dogs, and fries later, we were a happy family, enjoying a day at the ball game!

Did I mention it was a HOT day?

Luckily, Wally’s clubhouse was open for business!

Wally’s Clubhouse is open during the 3rd to 7th inning of each home game.  The Clubhouse is a wonderful space for younger fans to stretch their legs, and is filled with kid-friendly toys, activities, and snacks. The duo loved their brief visit to the clubhouse. It was the perfect break from the game. After having the chance to run around, we treated the kids to a little ice cream in the concourse area.  The game was almost over, so we watched the end from the picnic tables.

It only took three MLB games before we actually lasted through the entire game!

What did we learn?

  • Don’t bother spending money on crazy tickets at Fenway.  With Wally’s Clubhouse, you can give the kids a chance to run off some energy, which should help them sit nicely!
  • Do visit the Clubhouse!  Younger kids will love it, and you’ll love not having to contain your children for a bit.
  • Don’t forget to enjoy some soft serve out of a baseball helmet!  Totally worth the experience, and the kids will love the helmet!
  • Do visit the Kids Nation booth-  your kids will receive buttons, and various other goodies to commemorate their first trip to Fenway!
  • Don’t feel bad about taking pictures with all the Wally statues!  That’s what they are there for!
  • Do check out the calendar to see what other fun events are going on during your game!

TT Dad has told us that he had a wonderful Father’s Day!  Of all three stadiums, our experience with Fenway was the most kid-friendly, but the Picnic Perch at Camden Yards is a close second.
