This one was no exception.
In all honesty, this was an absolutely wonderful weekend. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. I have nothing but good things to say about the Omni Mt Washington resort, and Bretton Woods Ski Area. Every interaction with staff exceeded our expectations, and with the exception of the layout of our room, we were impressed. We can’t even really complain about the room, however, because it was exactly as we had requested- a separate bedroom, a sitting room, etc. It worked- it just could have been better.
Like much else in parenting, there was one thing that was a huge deal for me, but probably not for anyone else. This was their first non-parental care situation since wearing undies. I lie. They had a few morning drop offs at the Y while TT Dad or I were working out- and one time, it was not a success, to say the least. While I was attempting to remain optimistic with this weekend, my spirits were dampened a tad when I heard they would be wearing pull-ups all day. My concern wasn’t based on the fact that we were in a hotel, with no easy way to wash and dry the contaminated clothing- I was really worried that a couple of days in pull ups would completely ruin all the progress they’d shown with potty training.
When we were at Oma & Opa’s, we instituted family potty trips, at strategic points in the day, we all took a trip to the potty. I can’t help but wonder if that caused them to become a little more dependent on me, and is the reason for some of their difficulty with the idea of getting themselves to the potty on time.
To my surprise, they bounced right back this time. Once we were home, it was undie time again, and there was really no issue. But don’t worry- the child care facility actually washed and dried all of the wet clothing for us. Again, they went above and beyond.
After packing up our things, we headed down for breakfast in the Main Dining Room again. Perfection.
Then it was off to pack the car and head home.
The drive didn’t seem nearly as long as it did on the way there. We didn’t really hit much traffic non the wy back.
We did make a lunch stop on the way- Chipotle- also a big hit. Everything about this weekend went so well, including the drive. The kids were champs.
But before we knew it, we were home- and already planning our next big trip!
