Providence, Day 2

We woke up on Sunday morning, ready to go.

Breakfast is typically the duo’s biggest (and happiest) meal of the day… and TT Dad and I enjoy a good breakfast as well, so we love getting them out to restaurants for breakfast when we travel.

TT Dad had picked out a cute little bakery/cafe within walking distance from the hotel.  It also happened to be very close to our first stop of the day.  For once, our timing was impeccable.  We arrived at Olga’s Cup and Saucer to find plenty of seating available.  We were given a table in the back corner, where the kids would hopefully cause the least amount of ruckus. The good news is that the food can certainly hold it’s own.  Everything we absolutely delicious.  What a great way to start your day.  The service was also top notch.  We highly recommend Olga’s.

Of course, nothing is that easy for a family with toddler twins, so we weren’t surprised to discover that we were kind of trapped.

Finishing up our breakfast, we noticed that the place was packed.  There really wasn’t any room in between tables for us to maneuver our tandem stroller through to the exit.  The staff, and other patrons, at Olga’s were kind enough to make way, and we finally escaped through a side door.  Phew!

Bellies full, we walked over to the Providence Children’s Museum. Of all of the Children’s Museums we’ve been to, we found this one to be one of the our favorites.  The museum was large, with a natural flow to it, so we never felt as if we had missed an exhibit.

The museum had a lot of exhibits that we hadn’t come across in other museums, but it also had those tried and true experiences that we have grown to love.  We were excited to find that the museum continued to a fenced-in play area outside.

Perhaps most notable, was that we witnessed more than one employee cleaning.  Not just straightening up, or organizing-  but cleaning- the public areas.

We thought we were done with the museum, but we finally stumbled upon the Toddler Play area.  We didn’t last long, however, because there were some Non-Todders playing roughly with the younger kids. I can only watch an older kid push a younger kid down so many times before I have to believe my kid will be next. Sadly, the parents were watching.

It was time to think about lunch options, so we made our way back towards the hotel, and decided to try Luxe Burger Bar. The children were big fans of their mac and cheese, and I have to say the burgers weren’t half bad, either!   I was too busy dreaming about a shake, however, and it did not disappoint.

After a quick (too quick!) nap, TT Dad had a work function to attend, so we went over to the mall, which was also in walking distance.

This was the first real test of our City Select.  Garrett fell asleep, but Zoey was wide awake.  I was able to lay him almost completely flat, while still allowing her to sit comfortably.  I fell in love with this stroller just a little bit more that day.

After our shopping adventure, we hung out in the room, and played a little more outside at Burnside Park, which was across the street from our hotel.

After a quick dinner, the kids were in bed, and it was time for date night.  We ordered take out from the McCormick and Schmicks attached to the lobby of the hotel.  TT Dad went down to order and bring it up as soon as it was ready.  We were more than a little disappointed in the food, which was borderline cold-  we weren’t that far from the lobby. It also wasn’t cooked to our liking, but we figured that was the chance you take with takeout steak.

We weren’t up much longer than the kids, though.  Time to rest up for another fun day in Providence!
