We were fortunate enough to enjoy Oma’s homemade meals during most of our stay, but every once in a while, we would try a new (to us) restaurant. On this particular trip, one of our first such outings was to El Cerro Grande, a mexican restaurant just over the bridge. I should clarify- while this was a first for TT Dad and I, it wasn’t for the duo. They had come here with Auntie and Uncle during their overnight stay in May- and it was a hit!
This time, we got a later start than we should have, so the kids were sitting down to eat around their normal bedtime. As you can imagine, this didn’t end up going so well. They were tired. They were hungry. They were, in fact, hangry. Nevertheless, the boy devoured his entire plate, and most of the guacamole we had with our chips.
The rest of us enjoyed our meal, as well… and sadly, we had to rush out of there to get the kids to bed, but it was delicious!
Another new (to us) favorite was Casey’s Buffet. Oma, the duo, and I met the rest of the family at Casey’s after our morning at the Children’s Museum. Casey’s is southern barbecue, with collard greens, hush puppies, black-eyed peas, and other southern staples. Children under 3 are free, so we were not charged for the duo, even though they ate more than their fair share! In fact, I was so busy running up to the buffet to put more food in front of them, I didn’t have a chance to take any pictures! In addition, the server brought out two nerf water toys for the kids with the check. The food was amazing, the setting is comfortable, and the price was right. I don’t think our son would forgive us if we didn’t return!
This was an absolutely wonderful trip. We all settled into beach life so quickly, and even more valuable was the chance to spend some very quality time with Oma, Opa, Auntie A & Uncle N. Especially since Auntie and Uncle would be welcoming a new little love into the family in December!
