Smuggs’ Specials

Try as I might, I couldn’t find anything online about the 2017 Holiday offerings at Smuggers’ Notch.  As you can imagine, I was thrilled to receive the flyer upon arrival.

We were excited to check out all of the activities, both Holiday themed, and their standard weekly bunch, but we just never seemed to have enough time.

The kids came home from Treasures pretty exhausted every evening. A couple of nights, we begged them to extend the fun with a trip to the pool, or the ‘Fun Zone’.
Two years ago, the Fun Zone was our saving grace.  It rescued us from crazy children as we arrived much later than expected, and the kids were able to run off some energy.

Surprise, surprise…  We arrived much later than expected again.  Note to self: It will take longer than Google Maps tells you.

Anyway.  We may not have been able to squeeze many different activities in, but we did our best.   I repeat-  I guess we’re going to have to go back!

In addition to the pool, the Fun Zone, tubing (we never made it there, either!), ice skating, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing (you guessed it-  we didn’t do those, either), each afternoon is capped off with an apres-ski gathering for the adults.  They don’t leave out the kids, lighting up a bonfire each afternoon to celebrate their days as well.

The handbook details each of the weekly events, including Dance Parties, Pirate Pizza Dinners, Character Breakfasts, and the one we made it to- the country fair- complete with popcorn, carnival games, maple syrup in snow, hot cocoa, characters, and an ice carving demonstration.

With all that fun to be had, it was hard to believe that the kids regularly complained that we had arrived to pick them up-  but they did.  In fact, they made it very clear that they would prefer to stay at Treasures, rather than come back with us to the condo.  Sure, that may have been because there wasn’t much room in the condo, but we honestly believe they were enjoying their first ski experience that much.

One highlight of the week was the Christmas Even festivities.  There was a bonfire- complete with a sing-a-long, while we waited for the torchlight parade to come down the mountain.  After the torchlight parade, Santa, himself, came down the mountain!!  Before Santa invited everyone inside to share some milk and cookies we were treated to a wonderful fireworks display. It was quite impressive, and the kids even stopped constructing snow angels to check them out!
