Spring had Sprung.
We were excited to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.
We have a few traditions we look forward to each Spring, and they only get more and more fun as the kids have gotten older.
But first, we play. The kids were already huge fans of their ‘playground’ (as G calls it), but this year, they also noticed for the first time, that our
yard doesn’t end where the grass ends… and they really enjoyed exploring in the trees that line our property. TT Dad and I really enjoyed watching them. Of course, we did not enjoy the endless Tick Checks that we were signing ourselves up for. I guess that’s the joy of living in Connecticut.
The kids spent almost every unscheduled moment outside playing this spring.
As for the scheduled moments, we were excited to find that we’d be around for the Firehouse’s annual Pancake Breakfast. This year, the pancakes were delicious as usual, but the real treat was the fire trucks, and the fire boat! We met up with Uncle M, Auntie A, and our CT cousins, who also ran into their friends from school. Lots of friends to play with! After climbing through the fire trucks, and filling their bellies, we hadn’t had enough cousin time, so we joined them at their house for more play time.
I can’t explain what it means to me to have the kids growing up with cousins so close.
Another fun tradition is my Moms of Multiples group’s Spring family event. This year (and many previous years) we had Mother Goose come to lead the children in some well-known nursery rhymes. As you can see, the children have the opportunity to join in and act out some of the poems. This year, my kids joined in and volunteered to act out a couple of them! Z was chosen to be the short and stout tea pot. I promise you she was having more fun than she was letting on! G got to be Jack to another twin’s Jill. He also enjoyed it so much that he volunteered again!
There is one more event that we look forward to all Winter… We love picking out the flowers and veggies for our gardens! We have a vegetable garden box that TT Dad made a couple of years ago. It works really well, and we are almost always bombarded by kale, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Not really a problem!
We also pick out flowers for a landscaped area by our mailbox. This is the area where we planted the Zoey & Garrett trees. One of our favorite (and most meaningful) gifts that we received when the duo arrived were a pair of Aprium (hybrid of Apricot and Plum) trees from my aunt and uncle. Each of the children has claimed a tree, and as you can see they enjoy checking on their trees.
What else became way more fun as the kids have grown? Visiting Nonie at bowling, of course! Nonie has been bowling for years. There was even a short period of time that I wasn’t working on Wednesday mornings, so I joined her for a few weeks.
Now that the kids have been growing, we were able to completely surprise her by coming to visit her during her league play.
I hope the kids weren’t too distracting! They loved seeing Nonie in her element. I’m thinking it won’t be long before we can take them bowling for the first time.
These two are just growing up so fast. It’s hard to believe they are the same kids we took to Disney this year! For the most part, we’re really enjoying watching them turn into the people they will be.
