Home again, again.

I think we’re still recovering.

To be honest, some of us are recovering, and some of us are still wishing we could go back.

Me.  It’s me.  I’m still wishing we could go back.  In fact, I’m wishing so much that I agreed to return to run the Wine & Dine Half Marathon with a girlfriend!

Remember, TT Dad and I started our runDisney adventure with the Inaugural Wine & Dine Half Marathon relay.  Try as I might, I couldn’t convince him to come with me, and repeat the fun.  Instead, he’ll be staying home with our newly turned 3 year olds.

With another Disney trip on the horizon, it was time to start moving on.

Before we could really plan another trip, we had a milestone to tackle.  Can you guess what it was?

Yes, that’s the door.

She’s half on/half off.

FYI, that’s HIS bed she’s sleeping in.

Goodbye Cribs, and Hello Toddler Beds.

I can safely say at this point that it didn’t last forever.  It may have taken a while, but they eventually stopped ripping all the clothes out of their drawers, and running circles around their room, and jumping on each other instead of JUST CLOSING THEIR EYES and going to sleep.  So, about 6 months of disaster, but now they are back to easy peasy.  We put on their jammies, brush teeth, read books, sing songs, and kiss goodnight.  They may not fall asleep right away, but they stay in their beds, and chat, or snuggle their friends.

Phew.

Of course, while this was going on, we were still having fun finding new adventures nearby!

In fact, we didn’t have to go too far.

February brought snow.  Lots and lots… and lots of snow. Which, of course, means hot cocoa, as well.

It also brought Valentine’s Day, and our traditional Valentine’s Day dinner-  Heart Shaped pizza!

We started with a little test run.  Mommy brought the snow inside for the kids to check out before throwing them into Duo Deep snow outside.

They loved it.  Luckily, being two means that you get to help shovel.  You also get to sled, if your daddy is awesome and makes you a path down the hill in your front yard!

In addition to our fun at home, we did venture out into the world, as well.

We found a few opportunities to visit The Children’s Museum in West Hartford.  So many memories there…  we spent a lot of time there growing up.  I don’t think we were ever members, though.  This year, we are- along with Uncle M & Auntie L.  The kids enjoy having a change of scenery on those cold winter days, especially when they get to play with their cousins!

That’s not all!

On a whim, we decided to check out the Kids Fair at the Connecticut Convention Center.  We really had no idea what we were getting into.

The only way to describe what we walked into was a very confused trade show.  It couldn’t decide if it was for kids (kid activities, kid product vendors, kid attractions) or Home Improvement (pools, basements, landscaping).  Either way, we ended up checking out new cable providers, as well as gathering info on companies to call for quotes on finishing our basement.

There were a number of carnival rides inside the room as well, including a bounce house or two.   We let the kids pick one, and they chose the bounce house.  Regret washed over us as soon as we took a step or two closer to the bounce house.  Oh my.  It was filthy.

Luckily, they didn’t last long, and we were able to distract them with the petting zoo (also inside the room).

By the time we made it to the animals, they had forgotten the petting part (thank goodness), and were distracted by a dance class being taught on the stage.  We walked over to the stage, and they danced until they fell over.

I’m not completely convinced we’d return, but the kids had a good time, and it wasn’t a bad way to spend the afternoon!
