Anyone out there?
I know, I know… We kind of disappeared for a while. We were in the middle of the ocean! Of course, normally, that wouldn’t have stopped us… but we had a little situation.
As it turns out, the internet packages on a Disney Cruise are just as ridiculous as I’ve heard. The packages are priced based on the amount of data used, rather than the time spent online- which is good, because the service was very slow, at best.
TTDad needs to stay connected to work, even on vacations, so we do typically splurge on the internet packages, and purchase an ‘unlimited’ package. Disney Cruise Line did not offer an unlimited package, we went with the Large package, and we used that up before the end of the cruise.
Work was not the only reason we had to stay connected on this cruise- we were informed a few days into the cruise, that Marley wasn’t acting like himself. He was not eating, not playing, and didn’t seem all that interested in anything at all. Thank goodness my parents were around, because they were able to take charge and communicate with the staff at Woof Pack, ensuring Marley was well taken care of.
After a little roller coaster- he went from tired to playful, to lethargic, to wagging his talk, to not standing or lifting his head- the decision was made for my parents to bring him home. There was once again a little improvement, but it was short-lived, and they brought him to the emergency vet, who performed an ultrasound and did bloodwork, all of which showed nothing too concerning.
Thankfully, the emergency vet ran the scan by a radiologist, who saw a little something, believed to be pneumonia, on his lung. He was prescribed an antibiotic, and within 48 hours, he was starting to finally act a little better. About the same time we got home, he was starting to show signs of being himself again.
We’ve been home for a few days now, and he appears to be feeling much better. We will return to his vet for follow-up, and make sure that all is well, but as you can imagine, we are so grateful to all who were part of his healthy helper team.
We were already big fans of the Woof Pack after our last (which was also our first) experience, but this just put them over the edge. They handled his illness professionally and swiftly. When they couldn’t get a hold of us, they wasted no time in contacting my parents, and they stayed in touch, even after he had been checked out from their care.
In fact, I just received another email asking how he is doing.
Don’t worry, more cruise recap coming soon… we’re slowing recovering from such an amazing vacation!
