Back To The Beach

It took us three months, but we were finally headed back to the beach- to meet our sweet baby niece!

Both Z & G were smitten at first sight, and loved to hold their new baby cousin.  Z took great care to give Baby I a check up with her doctor kit, and G made sure Baby I was never without her toys or bink.

I was a little concerned that they would be jealous of Baby I, since they were used to Auntie A and Uncle N’s undivided attention, but they adjusted pretty quickly-  I’m thinking it was because they were equally distracted by the adorable baby squish in the room!

As far as our visits to Oma and Opa go, this was on the shorter side-  we were at the beach for 10 days-  but we filled those days with lots of fun and even more love.  We are so very lucky to have such a wonderful family- on both sides.  We thoroughly enjoy spending time with all of them, and we are even luckier to have the opportunity to do so as often as we do.

On this particular trip, we found out that G LOVES to paddleboard with daddy, but only if he gets to help paddle!  Z wasn’t so thrilled with the paddleboard (also not a fan of the Mamarazzi)
She really loved Auntie A & Uncle N’s boat.  They both enjoyed getting to drive the boat.

As usual, our beach time was a huge hit as well.  The adjustment period is becoming shorter, and it wasn’t long at all before the kids were playing in the sand, finding shells, and splashing in the water!

Another first on this trip was the Wrightsville Beach Brewery.  When we arrived, there was a short wait for a table.  The Brewery has a lovely outdoor space, with picnic tables, both adult and kid sized!  There was plenty of open space for the kids to explore.

Of course, as usual, we missed the mark on the timing, and the kids were definitely fading fast.  By the time we were seated, they were antsy and getting a little whiny.  We ordered food for them, as well as for the rest of us, and their food came out pretty quickly.  They weren’t too interested in eating, so they were back to ‘roam’ mode pretty quickly. When the duo is a combination of bored and tired, they want their mama.  Both of them.  It became very clear that I was unwittingly playing a game I could not win.  I would settle one of them, only to find the other crumbling into a puddle of complaints and tears.  Once I settled twin number two, I would find twin number one needing snuggles.

With zero belief that this would improve, I made the executive decision to remove myself and the kids from the situation.  TT Dad joined us, even though I strongly encouraged him to stay and enjoy the meal with his family.  The kids fell asleep in record time once we returned to the house, and I was able to gobble up the meal that the others brought back for me.

I am very much looking forward to getting another chance to try the Wrightsville Beach Brewery, and this time I promise to bring happier kids-  or maybe we’ll leave the kids at home!
