Lions, and Tigers, and Trains?

We were almost there.

TT Dad had one more full day of work events.  After this one more day, his day would be more flexible, with either morning or afternoon meetings, allowing him to join us on some outings.

I took advantage of this final solo day, and arranged a play date.

Yes, a play date.

I have a group of ‘mom friends’ that have all been part of a community for approximately three years.  I have trouble putting into words exactly what this group means to me, and the impact they have on my life.  Luckily, someone else took care of that.

While our interactions consist mainly of facebook posts, texts, emails, and the occasional skype, we do try to arrange play dates whenever possible.

When this trip was being planned, I contacted the two moms who live in the area, and we were able to schedule a morning for our kids to play, and for us to sit and chat in person.  It was such a lovely time.  This was the first time I’d met these two ladies in the flesh, but I could share with them things I wouldn’t easily share with anyone else.

The kids had a blast, we all ate some pizza, and before we knew it, we were back on the road to meet TT Dad and Auntie A for a post work dip in the pool.

They played hard!

They played hard!

The duo and I were excited to spend some time with TT Dad in Phoenix.  Now that TT Dad was able to join us, the requirements had eased up a bit.  We no longer needed to be completely fenced in!  The possibilities were endless.

We had a few ideas, and ended up checking out the Phoenix Zoo, and squeezing in another visit to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad park.

A year ago, Uncle M, Auntie L, and Cousin G had been in Phoenix for a work trip (Auntie L, this time!) and they came back raving about the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.  As we told people about our upcoming trip to Phoenix, almost everyone had the same recommendation.  When we arrived at our hotel, we noticed the park was just a few blocks away, so we stopped by one day to check it out.  We had so much fun we made it a priority to return when we had a little more time.

Choo Choo!

You can add our recommendation to the list.  Read our full review for more!

Another venue we chose for our Daddy Days was the Phoenix Zoo.  This was one of our first Zoo experiences, but there is no way it would be our last.  This zoo had so much to offer.  Another stamp of approval!

As the days in AZ were dwindling, we had a few more opportunities to check out some great places.

Coming up next…  The Children’s Museum of Phoenix, and a couple of notable restaurant experiences!
