Now that we had two fully mobile toddlers, it was almost like starting over. We had learned a thing or two that we were sure would still apply, but in general, this was a whole new ball game.
So, TT Dad found a marathon to run. Like you do.
He signed up for the Philadelphia Marathon in November of 2015.
The plan was still to find a hotel that has a room with a bedroom door. This is key, for a couple of reasons. First, it allows TT Dad and I to stay up a little later than the duo- we have an area where we can hang out, and talk, or watch a movie, etc, without disturbing sleeping (ha!) children. In addition, it increases the odds that you’ll find room for two pack and plays (and reduces the need for gymnastic skills to get you from the bed to the bathroom).
Mostly, however, I am fairly certain that our kids would have some serious trouble falling asleep if we were sitting in the room. The alternative is to sit outside the room with the monitor. That doesn’t sound all that appealing, either.
So, a Suite, it is.
We’d be driving down to Philly on a Friday, with return set for Sunday late afternoon, after the marathon.
In addition to being the first trip with mobile toddlers, it would be the maiden voyage for our brand spankin’ new swagger wagon. We had finally jumped over to the dark side… Where we have sliding doors.
Life Changing.
I could write a whole post on the glory that is sliding doors. I’ll save you (for now) and just let you know that this was the best decision we’ve made in a while. A long while.
So, we had a minivan, two toddlers, and a dad about to run 26.2 miles.
What could possibly go wrong?
