Road Trip Recap

We were having so much fun that when it came time to hit the road… we didn’t.  We convinced ourselves it would be a better idea to put off the drive home for one more day.  Our overnight drive on Saturday became an overnight drive on Sunday, which, in hindsight, was probably the only poor decision made that week.

Traffic wasn’t terrible, but it still was not fun to arrive on a Monday morning, and have TT Dad rush right off to work! In the end, it was worth it!

TT Dad and I look back fondly on our first family road trip.  We feel that the traveling part went extremely well, which we attribute mostly to our timing.  It helps to have kids that like to sleep on car rides, though!

The trip included a nice mix of family and friends, and we came away with some great memories!  Wrightsville Beach was a lovely place to explore.  We took a few walks, and scouted some playgrounds that we will definitely visit on our next trip!

We ate most of our meals in, but one night, we ventured out, as a family.  We went to The Oceanic Restaurant.  Highly Recommended. The restaurant is situated on a pier, which gave the duo (and their parents) some great people watching!  We walked out to the end of the pier, which wasn’t very crowded.   Speaking of crowds, we were impressed all around by the lack thereof.  We didn’t run into a large crowd even once.  The beach had plenty of room for our large and gear-centric crowd.  We never felt like we couldn’t spread out.

Lessons Learned:

Don’t put off your trip home!

Double Snap ‘N’ Go doesn’t ‘GO’ very well on sand.

SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN!

Inflatable Fishy Pool has many uses!  At home, at the beach..  even filled with balls in the winter for a ball pit!

Practice with PFDs.

Plan your next trip!

Yes, it’s true!  Our next trip is planned!  We’ll be back soon, Auntie & Uncle!
